Description: Rason, commonly known as Garlic, is a bulbous perennial herb that grows up to 60 cm in height. It has long, flat, and narrow leaves. The plant produces an underground bulb composed of several cloves, each enclosed in a white or purple papery skin. The flowers are small, white to pink, and are borne in a spherical umbel.
Occurrence: Rason is native to Central Asia and northeastern Iran but is now cultivated worldwide. In India, it is widely grown in states like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. It prefers well-drained, loamy soil and a temperate climate for optimal growth.
