Atsi (Aconitum heterophyllum) in Ayurveda Medical Science
Atsi, commonly known as Ativisha in Ayurveda, is a highly potent medicinal herb used extensively in traditional medicine for its digestive, anti-inflammatory, and immune-boosting properties. It is well-regarded for its ability to balance Vata and Kapha doshas and is often used in pediatric and gastrointestinal disorders. Ativisha is especially valued for its action as a detoxifier and digestive stimulant.
Atisara (Diarrhea) is a disorder primarily caused by an imbalance in the doshas, mainly Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The different types of Atisara are classified as follows:
Vataja Atisara: Characterized by dry stools, severe abdominal pain, and dehydration due to excessive loss of fluids.
Pittaja Atisara: Characterized by burning sensations, foul-smelling stools, and fever.
Kaphaja Atisara: Characterized by mucus-laden stools, heaviness, and loss of appetite.
Sannipataja Atisara: A severe form involving an imbalance of all three doshas.
Amaja Atisara: Due to undigested toxins (Ama) leading to sluggish digestion and foul-smelling diarrhea.
Deepana (Appetizer) – Stimulates Agni (digestive fire) and restores digestion.
Pachana (Carminative and Digestive) – Helps in digesting Ama and clearing toxins.
Grahi (Absorbent) – Strengthens intestines and reduces excessive bowel movements.
